About Us
What is the Georgia Investor Education Program?
The Georgia Investor Education Program is a statewide initiative from Georgia Secretary of State’s Office and funded by the national not-for profit Investor Protection Trust.
How is Georgia Secretary of State’s Office involved?
The Secretary of State serves as the Georgia Commissioner of Securities. In that capacity, she regulates the offer for sale and sale of securities within and from the state of Georgia. These securities may range from traditional common stocks and bonds to a broad range of more complex forms of investment contracts, limited partnerships, profit-sharing arrangements, and the newly-emerging market in derivatives.
What is Investor Protection Trust?
The Investor Protection Trust (IPT) is a non-profit organization devoted to investor education. Founded in 1993 as part of a multi-state settlement to resolve charges of misconduct, IPT serves as an independent source of non-commercial investor education materials.
IPT operates programs and uses grants to underwrite important investor education and protection initiatives carried out by state organizations – such as the Georgia Investor Education Program.
What is the aim of the Georgia Investor Education Program?
The aim of the program is to empower the citizens of Georgia to take control of their finances and their investments as well as to encourage Georgians to invest a little time before investing any money.
How will the program achieve this aim?
The Georgia Investor Education Program has launched an initiative called Invest a little time.org which consists of a comprehensive web site, seminars and a public relations campaign designed to provide pertinent information to the citizens of Georgia to empower them to take control of their finances and their investments.
